When is the hydrangea at its most beautiful?
The hydrangea season generally runs from late May to late October. In June and July, the flowers are at their largest and sturdier, perfect for a full bouquet. From August onwards, we see more and more vintage shades appearing, the so-called antique varieties where green, pink, and blue blend together.

Combine with other flowers
Hydrangea is a rewarding flower to combine with, precisely because the large flower clusters visually require a lot of space. A few combinations that always work:

How do you keep a hydrangea bouquet beautiful for a long time?
The hydrangea is a sensitive drinker. What you do determines whether it stays beautiful for four days or almost two weeks. Five concrete tips:
- Cut each stem diagonally upon receipt, preferably under lukewarm water. This opens the veins.
- Remove the lower leaves. Leaves underwater will rot and give bacteria a chance to multiply.
- Use a clean vase with fresh, cool water. Add cut flower food if desired.
- Give the hydrangea plenty of water. Unlike most flowers, it drinks a lot, so change the water every two to three days.
- Do not place it in direct sunlight or near the heater. That accelerates wilting.
Bonus tip: if the hydrangea wilts despite everything, submerge the entire flower (head and stem) in water for ten minutes. It often perks up again.
